Mission
Statement
Our mission is to provide a quality developmental program
which empowers metro Atlanta youth, especially those from disadvantaged
circumstances, to become productive adults.
Statement
of Purpose for Camp Kiwanis
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta seeks to
achieve it’s mission’s outcomes by providing
a residential program at Camp Kiwanis.
Camp Kiwanis’ activities will focus on awareness, appreciation, and
knowledge of and the wise management of our natural resources. Through small
groups and personal experiences, with guidance of caring staff, members will
experience the results of goal setting and problem solving opportunities in the
out-of-doors. Knowledge, skills,
and attitudes gained from the “Camp Kiwanis Experience” will be presented as
{personal growth experiences} that can be applied to our members daily lives.
Camp
Kiwanis Philosophy
Boys & Girls
Club Camping is an educational experience in cooperative group living in the
out-of-doors. Camp Kiwanis program concepts were developed utilizing resources
from nationally known organizations such as: American Camping Association, American
Canoeing Association, American Red Cross,
National Wildlife Federation, Outward
Bound, Project Adventure, as well as our own
Boys & Girls Clubs of America
and Camp Kiwanis Staff.
The Camp Kiwanis

impacts the quality of our program. |
 |
The
resident camp experience is unique, and impacts each campers’ social,
spiritual, health, cultural, physical, and self-esteem. |
 |
Cooperative group living provides an excellent program
format to enhance sense of belonging, sense of control, sense of usefulness,
sense of accomplishment, responsibility, communication & problem
